How many people does it seat?
7 people, comfortably. That is 1.5 people per seat cube, and ottomans are not counted as seats. It fits a room from 14 x 15 ft in the Classic module size, or 12 x 13 ft in Compact.
Do the cushions flatten out over time?
This is the problem we built Garelli around. Most cloud style sofas feel incredible for a year, then look deflated. Our fill is 30% down-alternative and 70% fiber, a blend we chose specifically so the seat is soft the day it arrives and still holds its shape years later. Fluff and rotate the cushions once in a while, like you would with any down style seating, and they keep their form.
How firm is it?
Soft to sink into, supportive underneath. You sink in without bottoming out or feeling the frame. If you want something you disappear into, this is close. If you want something rigid, this is not that sofa.
Can you actually sleep on it?
Yes, and plenty of our customers do, some more than in their own bed. People sleep across two or three modular pieces, so anything from a loveseat up works as a guest bed. Figure about one adult for every two pieces when lying down.
Do the pieces slide apart when you sit down?
No, and there are no connectors or tools involved. Every module sits on rubber legs that grip the floor, so the pieces stay where you put them and your floor stays free of scratches. We looked at connectors and this works better: nothing to break, nothing to unclip when you want to rearrange the room.
Will it fit through my door?
Yes. Every piece ships in its own box, and the boxes turn on their side to clear doorways, hallways, stairs and elevators. Our delivery team handles that part, then sets the sofa up in the room you want it in.
Is it good with pets and kids?
That is exactly who we picked the fabrics for. They are performance fabrics, water repellent and stain resistant, and every cover comes off and goes in your washing machine. A spill or a muddy paw is a wash cycle, not a disaster.
Can I wash the covers? Do they shrink?
Unzip, wash in your machine, put them back on. They do not shrink, but air dry them instead of using the dryer to keep it that way. If you want a spare set, we sell replacement covers on request.
How long does delivery take, and where do you ship?
If you are in Florida or a nearby state, about a week. Anywhere else in the continental US, two to three weeks. Free white-glove delivery is included every time: we carry it in, set it up, and take the packaging with us. We deliver within the US mainland only.
Does it smell when you unbox it?
No chemical smell. There is a faint new fabric smell for the first couple of days, the same as any new upholstery, and it is gone in two or three.
Can I see the fabric before I commit?
Yes, and on a purchase this size we recommend it. Order free swatches and they arrive in one to four days.
What does the warranty cover?
A limited lifetime warranty on the frame, legs and hardware against manufacturing defects, for the original owner. It does not cover normal wear and tear, but you can order replacement parts and covers from us at a fair price, so a worn piece never means buying a new sofa.
Can I return it?
Returns accepted within 14 days of delivery.
What is the difference between Classic and Compact?
Classic and Compact are the two module sizes. It is the same sofa at the same price, and only the module size changes. Every piece stays a square: the armless seat, the corner and the ottoman. Classic is 44.5 inches square with a deeper seat. Compact is 40 inches square and saves floor space.
Should I choose Classic or Compact?
Choose Classic if you want the deeper seat. Choose Compact if you want to save floor space. Same sofa, same price, so the only question is size. The exact footprint for this layout is in the Detailed Dimensions above.
